Group Community Project Evaluation: The Risk of Striving for Perfection Group Community Project was presented on the 25th of April, 2023, at the Australian College of Applied Profession. Introduction of the Event: Unrealistic expectations from society can put a lot of pressure on young adults. Many young people feel like they need to have their lives figured out by a certain age or achieve certain milestones to succeed. This pressure can come from parents, peers, society, or within. The pressure to meet unrealistic expectations can adversely affect a young adult's mental health and well-being. It can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. It can also cause them to make decisions that do not align with their values and aspirations but rather what they think will impress others. When Expectations are unmet, it can lead to feelings of disappointment, frustration, and even anger; this social expectation can damage one’s self-identity, which is why our theme serves the social issues: mental health, education, health care, and self-care. Objectives: To form a conversation on the root causes of unrealistic expectations within today’s society. To understand the uniqueness of each individual's perspectives & experiences regarding social expectations. Enhance each individual's confidence to become comfortable discussing this expectation with other members of society. Identify how we can bring forth societal change and advocate societal change.
